Mama Putih

Rice tables,….find their origin in the colonial past of Indonesia. It were the rich colonists that selected and brought together the best and most tasteful dishes from this enormous cluster of oriental islands. They served it to their guests and named it their rice table. But for sure it was a Indonesian cookie who did the job. Today a rice table is “hot’ news in the culinary world. And so is Mama Putih in the Algarve.

With 28 seats inside, a small bar and another 8 seats on the terrace Mama Putih is a small and cozy restaurant with a warm atmosphere.

Decorated with Indonesian paintings and woodcarving, Mama Putih gives her guests the feeling that they are back in the old days (Tempo Doeloe in Indonesian).

Excellent meals, helpful and cheery attendance and pleasant background music makes dining in Mama Putih to an evening to remember.

Mama Putih offers her guests a choice out of 4 different rice tables. Each consisting of a rich variety of the most delicious and exotic dishes. Combinations of dishes with beef, pork, lamb, seafood, fruit and vegetables. Some are hot and spicy, others are mild or sweet and sour but …. all are mouthwatering.

Indonesian restaurants are not very widely spread over the Algarve. As a matter of fact it is not easy to find one. Mama Putih however is very easy to find. Along the EN 125 in Fonte de Boliqueime.
